How does a sponsorship work?
We arrange sponsorships for ill, handicapped, orphaned, or poor children in Luxor and surroundings. For a monthly contribution of 25 euros (which is paid out in full in Egyptian pounds to the sponsored family), the necessary food, clothing, medical care and school supplies are secured for our children. Through the acceptance of a child into our sponsorship program, the entire family can profit from our Center's care efforts. It is our goal to include particularly disadvantaged families in our program, such as families whose breadwinner has died, or families with divorced or abandoned mothers, who are also alone in providing for their children.
A sponsorship for a child is a very personal type of assistance, which can be closely followed. Once a year, you as the sponsor receive a report on the development of your sponsored child and on what is happening with the family. Egypt is a very interesting holiday destination and only four hours' flight away from Europe. This means that you can combine a holiday in a fascinating country full of interesting experiences with a visit to your sponsored family. After prior agreement, our local team in Luxor will assist you in any way possible. Many godparents / sponsors have made use of this option or even do this regularly. You can be sure that a visit to your sponsored family and being immersing in village life will provide you with unforgettable impressions.
With your sponsorship, you enable a child from Luxor or from a West Bank village to have a better future. You will support your child's healthcare, its school attendance as well as its healthy development, meaning that you are also protecting your sponsored child's human rights. Of course, your contribution further benefits the entire family of your sponsored child. Regular visits by our team at our families' homes ensure that your donations are used correctly.
Your sponsorship contribution is tax-deductible. At the beginning of each calendar year, you receive a receipt for your regular donations and any special donations made to your sponsored family.

The assumption of a sponsorship does not mean a contractual obligation or commitment for you. You help only as long as you can or want to. If desired, you can quit your sponsorship at any time and without observance of any deadline. We would then try to find a new sponsor for the respective child, and we would continue to pay the monthly contribution for the child until we find a new sponsor.
Ideally, you sponsor a child up to the completion of its 16th year of life, or until it has finished school or vocational training. Of course, you can continue to support your child beyond that, provided that the need still persists. If a sponsored child should be excluded from our project, for example, because he or she finishes school, gets married or moves away, we will inform you immediately and propose another child for sponsorship.
By the way, we require from all the parents of our families that all school-aged children must go to school. If parents do not support this or even obstruct it, they cannot participate in our program or will be excluded from it altogether.
